Books
A lot has changed at the library, but books are still at the core of our business. We have a large collection of print and digital books to borrow and special reference materials you can view during your visit to the library.
With your BPL card, you can also borrow physical books from Hamilton, Halton Hills, Milton, and Oakville Public Libraries and digital books from Hamilton, Mississauga, London, Ottawa, and Kingston Frontenac public libraries. Interested in learning more about eBooks? We can help with that too.
We always have fresh reading recommendations for you to enjoy. And great news! We no longer charge daily fines for late returns. You can read more about borrowing options at BPL.
Courses, Music, Movies, and More!
Your library login can unlock dozens of quality online resources for learning and recreation for FREE. You simply create a login using your BPL library card number, and you’re in! Some of our most popular include:

- Live, virtual tutoring with BrainFuse

Technology & Other Stuff You Can Borrow
We’ve got much more than books! Check out our extensive technology lending collection, or explore a new hobby with our birding kits and puzzles.
We’ve also got useful accessibility options, including DAISY readers, C-pens, and cognitive care kits.
Space
The library is one of the few places you can still go without spending any money. So stop by! We welcome customers to bring a coffee and read in one of our comfortable chairs, meet a friend to catch up, or use a desk in our study areas. All our branches have free Wi-Fi and all-gender, accessible washrooms.
We also offer low-cost room rentals. These are bookable on a first-come, first-served basis.
Programs
Burlington Public Library is known for its high-quality, free programs. Every month, we publish an eNewsletter and print guide featuring our program highlights. You can find even more options under the PROGRAMS page on our website.
Most programs require registration, but you can do that with or without a library card. So don’t be afraid to bring a friend who lives outside Burlington.
Some of our most popular programs include author talks, Family Storytime, and STEAM activities. Make sure you subscribe to our eNewsletter so you get a registration link as soon as program registration opens. Registration begins on the third Wednesday of the month for the following month’s programs.
MakerSpace
Come with an idea, leave with a creation. Our MakerSpace is a full-service fabrication lab where you can design and produce things using equipment most of us don’t have at home. It is on the third floor of our Central Branch.
Our MakerSpace charges a small amount for most projects in order to recover the cost of materials. If you want to make sure equipment is available when you arrive, pre-book a time slot online.
