Introducing BPL’s New Printing System

We’re improving our printing and copying services to make it even easier for you!

A New Printing System

Starting the week of October 28, you’ll begin to see a new printing and copying system at our six full-service branches. Wireless printing will be introduced beginning Tuesday, November 5.

Once fully introduced on November 5, you’ll be able to print documents from a library computer, your personal computer, or your phone. Each printer will have a kiosk beside it where you can easily find your print request and pay by debit or credit right at the photocopier-printer. Once sent to print, pay for your job by credit or debit at the printing kiosk. This will place a temporary $5 pre-authorization on your card that will be removed after the transaction is complete. The pre-authorization balance is reimbursed by your bank, which may take a day or longer.

You can also use the kiosk and printer to scan or make copies of a document. When scanning a document at the printer, you can save the digital copy to a USB key or send it as an email attachment—it's free to scan to a USB key or email since no paper copy is produced.

Faxing and Enhanced Scanning at Central & New Appleby

Our new scanning and faxing system, ScanEZ, will be available at Central and New Appleby branches. At these stations, there are new options to select from over 25 languages, use a variety of accessibility tools, and edit your scanned images.

Some of the features include:

  • Restore and revive old photos: The scanner has an option to enhance the images to restore and revive colour and clarity.
  • Handwriting recognition: Convert handwritten letters and notes in English, French, Korean, Japanese and German into other languages.
  • Scan faster: Scan both sides of a page in a single pass at up to 120 pages per minute
