BPL Scores a 2M Hat Trick!
2024 was truly one for the history books for Burlington Public Library. With our year-end numbers now tallied, we’re thrilled to share that 2024 was another record-breaking year: BPL members borrowed over TWO MILLION items in 2024 across our three largest collections—physical books and materials, digital books, and online resources.
While physical books and materials remain the most borrowed items, Burlington community members borrowed widely online—from eBooks, magazines, and audiobooks to digital resources like Hoopla, Kanopy, and The New York Times.

Every borrow is a testament to the value you place in library service and the vital role your public library has in our community,” says Burlington Public Library CEO Lita Barrie. “Thank you for making 2024 a year to remember—we’re truly honoured by your continued trust, support, and patronage."
Library users did more than just borrow. In 2024, there were more than 982,000 visits to the Library—marking a return to pre-pandemic visits. More than 89,319 people attended 4,100 programs at BPL in 2024, such as storytimes, book clubs, technology workshops and more.

Good news comes in threes! Here’s how Burlington Public Library’s banner year added up:
398,968 digital book loans.
388,737 eResource use.
1,309,428 physical book and item loans (including hardcovers, paperbacks, children’s board books, and graphic and manga novels, DVDs, CDs, magazines, devices, kits, and community access passes).
This milestone marks a new high in our library’s history, surpassing the previous record of 1.95 million total loans set in 2023.
