New Appleby Relocation Update – Fall 2024

Our New Appleby Branch is moving to 5151 New Street in 2025 as part of the future Robert Bateman Community Centre! The library branch is part of a larger project led by the City of Burlington, which will transform the former Robert Bateman High School into a recreation and education hub.

More to Offer at New Appleby

In our last update earlier this year, we shared images of what the inside of the new library will look like and asked for your input. Since then, more than 400 people participated in community consultation sessions and an online survey to shape the future of the branch, in addition to nearly 6,000 responses in 2023.

Burlington residents can look forward to more space, books and resources at the new location. The branch will feature:

  • 16,000 square feet of space (three times the size of the current location).
  • A large collection of fiction, non-fiction, magazines, and other materials to borrow.
  • Sound-proof digital media rooms for recording and editing audio.
  • Comfortable seating and study space, including three rentable meeting rooms.
  • An engaging children’s area with a wide selection of books, space for children and families to read and play.

Construction Continues

BPL staff recently visited the site of the future New Appleby Branch. Construction, led by the City of Burlington, is underway towards an opening date in Fall 2025.
