Summer Reading Club Registration Is Open!
The countdown to summer is on! School’s almost out, summer adventures are around the corner, and Summer Reading Club is back!
Summer is the perfect time for children to discover new favourite books, feed their imagination, and keep their reading skills strong.
Registration is now open for Burlington Public Library's free Summer Reading Club (SRC), with prizes, programs, and plenty of encouragement to read. Flexible and easy to participate in, SRC helps children and teens stay engaged and motivated to read all summer long.
Getting Started Is Easy
First, register your child online or at any Burlington Public Library branch. Then:
- Pick up a reading tracker. The reading tracker helps kids turn a summer reading goal into a fun challenge, making it easy to see how far they've come and celebrate their progress along the way. A printable tracker is also available online.
- Set a reading goal together with your child.
- Read! Encourage your child to enjoy stories in the format that works best for them. Reading looks different for everyone. Comics, graphic novels, audiobooks, ebooks, and traditional books all have a place in Summer Reading Club.
- Check in with us every week starting June 29, online or in person. Every weekly check-in earns participants two colourful beads for their reading reward keychain and an entry into our end-of-summer Grand Prize Draw. The more often participants check in, the more chances they have to win!
- Visit the library throughout the summer. Library staff are always happy to chat about books, hear what your child is reading, and help find their next great read. You'll also find fun activities around the library and plenty of free programs for all ages.

Five Reasons to Join Summer Reading Club
Whether your child is just learning to read, already loves books, or falls somewhere in between, Summer Reading Club offers a fun and encouraging way to build reading habits that can last a lifetime.
1. Reading Keeps Young Minds Active
Summer is a time for fun and relaxation, but it’s also important to keep reading skills strong. Reading helps children maintain literacy skills, build vocabulary, spark imagination, and stay curious about the world around them. Even a few minutes of reading each day can help children return to school in September feeling more confident and ready to learn.
2. Goals Build Confidence
Summer Reading Club encourages children to set their own reading goals. Maybe they want to read a certain number of books, finish a favourite series, discover a new author, or simply spend more time reading each week. Reaching a goal feels great and helps build confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of reading.
3. There Are Prizes!
Reading is rewarding all on its own—but earning prizes for reading make it even more exciting!
4. Book Recommendations Delivered to You
Not sure what to read next? Summer Reading Club participants receive weekly Staff Picks booklists packed with great reading suggestions for different ages and interests. We’ll also send a friendly reminder to check in each week, making it easy to stay on track all summer long.
5. Become Part of a Reading Community
Summer Reading Club is about more than books. It’s also a chance to connect with other readers and take part in fun library experiences.
Kids can enjoy creative activities at Summer Creation Stations, become dinosaur detectives, discover their inner magic, and participate in hands-on programs throughout the season. Teens can test their trivia skills, enjoy movie nights, find their inner calm, and spend time with friends at the library.
