Ace That Assignment!

Welcome to the School Project Zone—that busy stretch between March Break and summer vacation when school assignments ramp up. Whether it’s a science fair, a speech, a book report, or even Burlington Battle of the Books, elementary students are deep in learning mode.

So, when those deadlines start looming, don’t let Google be their only go-to. Burlington Public Library offers two trusted, always-available online resources to help your kids tackle their projects and navigate The Zone with confidence.

Britannica Library

Britannica Library online resource brings all the best parts of the classic Britannica Encyclopedia books—plus so much more! Packed with fascinating facts, and astounding pictures and videos, young learners across primary, junior, and intermediate grades can research a wide range of topics for their school projects and presentations in the Children’s section. This trusted resource features expertly written and carefully edited articles. For the best experience, we encourage parents and kids to explore it together—starting with this short video for a quick introduction!

From home, log in to Britannica Library with your Burlington Public Library card number. You don’t need a BPL card to use this resource inside BPL branches.

No-Wait Non-Fiction Books

New this year at BPL, OverDrive/Libby now offers a “No Wait, No Problem!” collection of nonfiction eBooks you can borrow with your BPL card. Many of the books are geared to students in primary and junior grades. With unlimited checkouts, there’s no waiting list, so many students can borrow the same book at the same time. Just like other OverDrive eBooks, you can choose a loan period of 7, 14, or 21 days—and since these titles are always available, you can immediately renew them!

Check out the “No Wait, No Problem!” simultaneous use collection on OverDrive/Libby’s Kids site.
