Destination: Barcelona, Spain
This Spanish and Catalan bilingual city, located in the northeastern Catalonia region of Spain, boasts nine UNESCO heritage sites, incredible architecture, and a buzzing arts and nightlife vibe, rightfully earning its reputation as a top European destination. If Barcelona is in your future, Mango Languages offers Spanish (Castilian). You may also benefit from learning some Italian and French since Catalan has Latin roots.
Destination: Greece
Who can resist when the sirens call you to the land of ancient ruins, breathtaking landscapes, cosmopolitan cities, and culinary delights? Whether you plan to island hop around the Aegean Sea or pursue your own odyssey, it’s always helpful to know some local Greek words and phrases when your adventures take you off the tourist trail.
Destination: Italy
Thanks to a large and vibrant Italian diaspora in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, the melodic and expressive Italian language is already familiar music to our ears. Expand your vocabulary, master useful phrases, and try the handy Mango Languages translation tool.
Destination: Morocco
As diverse as its cultural heritage and historical influences, the inhabitants of this North African country speak various forms of Arabic, as well as Spanish and French. Of the four Arabic options offered in Mango Languages, Modern Standard Arabic, one of Morocco’s two official languages, is your best choice for learning.
Destination Reykjavík, Iceland
While English is widely spoken in Iceland’s largest city and throughout the island, Icelandic is the official language. So, while you can comfortably visit the world’s northernmost capital as an English-speaking tourist, learning some basic Icelandic words and phrases honours Icelandic culture, and it’s a nice thing to do!
Destination: Tahiti
French is the official language of the 118 French Polynesian islands, including the dazzling Tahiti and Bora Bora, so your South Pacific cruise is a great opportunity to brush up on your French language skills. Bonus! When you parler français, you can also confidently travel to domestic destinations, like Montréal, Québec City, and the French territory of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon off the Newfoundland and Labrador coast.
