Tuesday, April 9 – The triumphant return of the Battle of the Books tournament starts today! Twenty teams of enthusiastic students from 12 Burlington schools are ready to show off their passion for reading and compete for the coveted title of champions of the 35th Burlington Battle of the Books tournament.
Central Branch will be abuzz with activity on the competition days: April 9, 10, 11, and 24. Visitors to the branch may notice a busier-than-usual first floor and lobby. Let’s cheer on these young book lovers who have dedicated months to preparation, bringing their boundless school spirit to the Main Event at Central.
Battle of the Books is a Jeopardy-style book trivia tournament for kids in Grades 3 to 8. Teams of six students compete for points by identifying the titles, authors, and characters of books from questions based on the plots and settings of familiar stories. The top two teams in each division with the most points for all the games played compete in the Burlington Grand Battle on Wednesday, April 24.
