Welcome, Battle of the Books Teams!

Let the Battle of the Books tournament begin! Twenty-one teams of enthusiastic students from 12 Burlington schools are ready to show off their passion for reading and compete for the coveted Junior and Senior Champion titles in the 2026 Battle of the Books.

Central Branch will be abuzz with activity on the competition days: April 8, 9, and 15. Visitors to the branch may notice a busier-than-usual first floor and lobby. Let’s cheer on these young book lovers who have dedicated months to preparation, bringing their boundless school spirit to the Main Event at Central.

Battle of the Books is a Jeopardy-style book trivia tournament for kids in Grades 3 to 8. Teams of six students compete for points by identifying the titles, authors, and characters of books from questions based on the plots and settings of familiar stories. The top two teams in each division, based on points earned across all games played, compete in the Burlington Grand Battle on Thursday, April 23. The Grand Battle winner will represent Burlington in the Regional Battle of the Books Championship in Milton on May 7.
