Library Donations
Every year the Library receives generous contributions from people in our community. Each gift provides a living legacy that enables so many others to explore and enjoy words, music, and visuals.
We are grateful to our volunteers who devote their time, talents, and enthusiasm to the Library. Your work touches many lives and makes a difference to our community.
Burlington Public Library is a registered charitable organization that gratefully accepts bequests, memorials, individual, business and organization donations, and other gifts.
Honour With Books
Honour With Books is a unique way to pay tribute to a friend, relative, colleague, or group on a special occasion. Celebrate a life or a milestone with a gift that will bring pleasure to others. Government Grants & Programs
Government of Ontario, 2009/2010
We greatly appreciate the ongoing support of projects funded by the Ministry’s $15 Million Investment in Ontario Public Libraries and e-resources grant delivered by SOLS in collaboration with OLS-North. These funds made it possible for Burlington Public Library to expand the audio-visual collection in 2009/10 to include Playaway digital audiobooks, MP3 audiobooks, and video games.
The Community Access Program (CAP) is a Government of Canada initiative, administered by Industry Canada, that aims to provide Canadians with affordable public access to the Internet and the skills they need to use it effectively. We gratefully acknowledge their ongoing support.
Sustainability for Public Access (SPIA3) Program, 2003/2004
The support of the Government of Ontario through the Heritage and Libraries Branch of the Ministry of Culture and of the Government of Canada is acknowledged.

The Millicent W. McEwen Endowment Fund
The McEwen Fund provides an annual interest income that enables Burlington Public Library to acquire technology, equipment, and resources that will enhance library services and collections for people in our community with low or no vision.
The Millicent W. McEwen Endowment Fund was established in 2002 from the generous gift of a bequest for nearly $250,000. Since then, people with vision loss across our city have benefited in many ways:
- Adaptive reading technologies at all library locations, such as the Optelec Reader (video magnifier)
- Large screen computer monitors at select public work stations and in the Ron Ness Training Room at Central Library
- Improved library collections of Talking Books, Books-on-CD, and Large Print book collections
The Millicent W. McEwen Endowment Fund is administered by the Burlington Community Foundation.
